THE KENTROVERSY PAPERS

Controversy?
No. Kentroversy.

Blogs give you a voice, and you get to pick how to use it.

SPANISH FORK CLASS OF 2004

Some blogs are merely placeholders, or areas to gather people together in a space on the internet.

Looks like this blog was a gathering place to get alumni from a specific high school all to share info with each other.
There are eleven other blogs of the same ilk, all set up for their individual graduation year.

Odds are these people all found each other, then ended up on facebook or somewhere else and left the blog in the empty internet space.

THE PLAYLIST

Sometimes good ideas start out as blogs, then move on to other sites. The Playlist was a very active blog for 8 years, with thousands of posts, but then the site moved over to indie Wire.

A DAY AT THE OFFICE

Pages and pages and pages of pages.

Sometimes blogs are so full of such long and detailed posts that it seems the blogger will be providing content until the end of time. But like this one, many fall off after a few years.

MASSACHUSETTS LIBRARY ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE REPORTS

Sometimes a good way to keep a blog alive is to have a whole bunch of people contribute to it.
But sometimes, that's not good enough.

This blog had 17 authors, and an impressive posting record for 3 years,
but it has now been silent for 4 years.

SemioPhenomenon

Sometimes there is such a thing as having too many blogs.
Not because you don't have something important to say, just because there's only so much time in the day to keep a blog updated.

This particular author has 5 other blogs that are up to date, but this one unfortunately fell off.

Flowers, Trees, and Gardens Blog

Spam blogs. Part of what helps keep the internet crappy!

I have to think this is a spam blog, they have 50 pages of posts that really don't make much sense,
and they only posted for two days.

The great Coca-Cola experiment

Most blogs are long running stories, people posting month after month.

But some blogs are just single purpose, they make the few posts they want to make and then sit on the internet as is.
This one was pretty much the same post, but reposted in multiple languages.
